Hear from Joe Ciccolo, Founder and President of BitAML and Executive Director of California Blockchain Advocacy Coalition (CBAC). Financial scams have evolved into a sophisticated, industrial-scale enterprise fueled by transnational organized crime, emerging technologies, and increasingly complex methods for moving and laundering illicit funds. Joe will examine the growing scale and sophistication of these criminal networks, why cryptocurrency has become part of the modern scam ecosystem, and how industry, law enforcement, and policymakers are responding.
He will also discuss why building local expertise in digital assets and financial crime, including through the region's new crime lab and law enforcement training center, is critical to protecting victims, tracing illicit funds, and equipping investigators to combat the next generation of financial scams.
